Prior to 2019 RAF IX (B) Squadron had been equipped with the Tornado with the task of air defence of the Northern UK. In the same year the unit was disbanded and immediately reorganized as the first RAF Aggressor Squadron flying the Eurofighter Typhoon. Based at Lossiemouth, Scotland the unit continued to display the Bat on the tail and scheme became known as the "Batman painting". ZJ914 was the first aircraft to receive the "Aggressor scheme". Along with the "Aggressor" role the squadron is also responsible for Quick Reaction Alert.
