Tamiya 58714 1/10 VWGolf II GTI 16V Rally MF-01X

The 1980?s was the decade of the hot hatch back in automotive circles! One of the many automakers that made hatchbacks popular was Volkswagen, and their MK2 GTI 16V was a favorite among automotive fans. Tamiya has faithfully recreated the MK2 GTI as a rally race car as seen in A7 class competition. The body is based on the MF-01 chassis as it?s at home on both asphalt and flat dirt running!
A True Icon
The Golf is one of Volkswagen's most iconic cars. From its first appearance in 1974, the Volkswagen Golf has continued to develop and lead the worldwide compact car class, all the while also actively participating in motorsport. The second-generation model - the result of a full model change in 1983 - had a GTi sports model with a 1,781cc inline-4 engine. This assembly kit R/C model depicts that car, which met with success in global rally races, in 1986 becoming champion of its class. It features a lightweight and durable polycarbonate body, paired with the MF-01X chassis that parlays its shaft-driven 4WD into a great drive on road and flat dirt.
MF-01X Chassis - Compact 4WD At Home on a Range of Surfaces
Based around a tough monocoque frame with integrated gearboxes, this compact 4WD chassis gives a thrilling drive whether you take it on road or flat dirt surfaces. It features a rear-mounted motor, with gear-driven rear wheels and a propeller shaft taking power to the front. Both front and rear gearboxes have differential gears. The battery pack location in the chassis center secures excellent balance, while 4-wheel independent double wishbone suspension employs friction dampers.

The classic lines of the Golf II are rendered artfully by the polycarbonate body.
Headlight cases and spotlights are separately molded parts that are compatible with separately sold LED light unit.
Dedicated parts recreate the distinctive side mirrors, and stickers are used for the mirror surfaces.
Taillight cases are separate parts, and can be combined with separately sold LED light unit. The bumper is also a separate component.
Dish wheels are paired with rally block tires.
